I was considering what I could randomly talk about on my blog today, and what I came up with is "Blogology." I haven't taken the time to see if someone else has come up with that particular term yet, but I guess I can use it if I want to.
Oops. Just looked on Google and it's already out there. Oh well, I will continue regardless, and hope I don't make anyone angry for using it.
What I came up with in my musing of blogology is that the subject of blogs are incredibly subjective. I notice interestingly that the blogs I read are all written by women, and tend to be quite intuitive and family oriented. That is very understandable to me, since most of the women I know are stay at home and working Moms.
Admittedly I don't read men's blogs because they don't seem to have buzz words that interest me. I want to hear about kids and life and living within the human race. I seem to have a preconceived idea that men don't blog about these things. Rather they talk about work, ideas, theories, sports, how things work.
I do listen to The Man talking about what interests the men at his coffee bunches - how they built this, or fixed that, or solved this. The girls I read talk about creative things like cooking (and include recipes!), crafts (and include instructions!), shopping (and share where they shop!) These things are fun to me, and I think the Man would be bored to tears with them. I like to hear that someones child has a birthday, has reached a milestone, that they have conquered this recipe, or this pattern for a pillow or a flower, or sticking a bird on it. I think blogging, and the sharing of blogs has enlarged my worldview somewhat, and helped me to be a little bit more "with it." Otherwise my circle would be quite small. Since I don't have kids around close, and no grands to go to see perform in a concert or play or anything, I kind of live vacariously through reading these blogs.
Hence - I poke around in Facebook and Blogland, and read what people have to say about what is going on in their lives, and I feel better for it. I'm so glad that there are women from our church (mostly younger women) who blog about the kids and what they and their friends are doing, and what they are studying in Bible studies, or learning in their personal devotions. I would like to say thank you to you gals who are so open in your blogs. Thanks for sharing some of your world with me, even though you may not even know I exist. Indeed, if it weren't for you girls being out there in the blogs, I probably wouldn't be over here in this blog. Ha! Funny how that works.
Stick a bird on it. :)
You must read Beki's blog.

Isn't blogging so fun? I remember the young moms encouraging me to do it. One thing I find is useful is that when I greet the little children in the nursery, I can say "You went to the zoo this week" or "I see that you have a new house! Do you like your room?" or some such thing and the kids can forget that mommy is dropping them off because they are talking with Miss Debby now!
